Essay on My Favourite Leader

My favorite leader is Lal Bhadur Shastri who was the 2nd prime minister of our country in the year 1964. The life we live when we are in our childhood plays a very important role in how it is going to be in the future. Lal Bahadur Shastri was born into a simple family. His parents were Ramdulari Devi and Sharada Prasad Srivastava.

He was born on second October 1904 in Mughalsarai. Shastri Ji lost his father at a very young age after which the family shifted to Varanasi to stay with his grandfather. When Shastri Ji was learning at school he developed a sense of patriotism. He was married to Lalita Devi who was from Mirzapur and had 6 children which were 2 daughters and 4 sons.

He was not just a prime minister but before that, he was also the rail minister, transport minister, minister of affairs, and even the police minister.  This means our second prime minister was full of knowledge and experience which a great leader requires to run a big country like India.

Lal Bahadur Shastri had all the qualities of a great leader. He had huge patience, determination, and honesty in his actions. He was among the popular leaders of his people because of his honesty. What he used to say used to reflect in his actions.

Lal Bahadur Shastri is not only recognized in India but the entire world knows about his successful and great leadership. Lal Bhadur Shastri used to enjoy a simple life and hate luxuries. He had a keen eye and was always unique with the solutions.  At that time period, there was a mountain of issues that India and its people were facing.

Lal Bhadur Shastri came up with unique solutions and every one of them was happily followed by his followers and even appreciated. Shastri Ji was born into a very simple family and this is why he was totally aware of the pain of his fellow citizens. He just not stood up and became the prime minister of India.  He did lots of work and made efforts to lift up the condition of his country. There was poverty all around which used to hurt him.

It was his first priority to give food to the Indians. He was also among the brave souls who fought and died for the independence of India. We cannot even imagine how tough that time was when every Indian was struggling to breathe in his own country due to British rulers.  Indians were slaves in their own country and desperate for everything which was their own.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was one of the freedom fighters but his role was different as he was a political leader. Lal Bahadur Shastri had a spirit of nationalism because he was inspired by Annie Besant and swami Vivekananda’s great people.  The slogan we have today and we can see everywhere “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” is given by Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was a great leader and he contributed to the nation till his last breath. He spent his entire life lifting up the bad conditions of India.  First of all, he made the country self-reliant in farming. Shastri ji became prime minister of India after independence and at this time period, the state of our nation was not good at all.

We were fully dependent on other countries for many things.  He then encouraged the entire nation to be self-reliant and he fostered The Green Revolution in the year 1965.  His encouragement paid off because India started producing its own grains. He was actively participating in the freedom of his country which is his biggest contribution.  He participated in all the major movements held in India and was also put in jail many times.

He never gave up and became an efficient leader of India after its independence.  He always stood beside the great people who fought for the country’s freedom. After becoming the leader of India he stood beside Harijans and worked for their betterment. He also changed his name from Srivastava to Shastri. He was honored with the title of Shastri after completing his graduation.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was also the leader when Pakistan attacked our country in 1665. This was the time period when he gave the slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan. He was giving a message to the Indian people that there are two major pillars of our country which are the farmers and our soldiers. There were many hardships that our country was facing when Lal Bhadur Shastri became the prime minister.

Lal Bahadur Shastri had no political background but he was a born leader. He had all the skills of a successful prime minister and his contributions to the country are too great. He was and is always going to be a beloved leader of the Indian people.
