Dr. Howard-John Wesley was born on April 19, 1972. He was the son of the late Rev. Dr. Alvin J. Wesley and Dr. Helene J. Wesley. Interestingly, he is the 4th generation in his family, who has become a Baptist pastor. He is a 1994 Duke University magna cum laude graduate.
He has a dual degree in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical. Dr. Howard-John Wesley surrendered to God’s call once more after his 1st year of medical school. He stepped away from a medical profession to attend seminary.
He majored in Biblical Studies & African-American religious history at Boston University School of Theology. At that time, Dr. Howard-John Wesley was a scholar of Martin L. King and also a 1997 summa-cum-laude alumnus.
His curiosity for preaching and learning led John to the Associated Chicago Theological School’s Doctor in Ministry in Preaching Program. There, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in the year 2003.
