They wear traditional clothes on this day. Women wear saree in their local style, men wear dhoti and kurta. They gather together in small groups to hoist a flag that is yellow and red in color. There is a Kannada anthem which they all sing in respect of the flag.

The Kannada anthem is Jaya Bharatha jananiya tanujate”. Many events are held on this day to honor those people who contributed to the development of the state. People celebrate it on higher levels at Kanteerava stadium in Bengaluru.

People celebrate by dancing to folk music and performing folk dances like veeragas and dollu kunitha. The chief minister presents the rewards to the people who contributed to the growth of the state. People have meals together and share their love for their state. All those who contributed in the past to make Karnataka is also remembered on this day.
