The couple raised him in Philadelphia. Morton Bailey Jr. was the maternal grandfather of Jesse Watters and the publisher of Better Homes and Garden Magazine.
His paternal grandfather was a great cardiologist at Veterans Administrative Hospital in Newington, named Dr. Franklin Benjamin Watters. His paternal grandfather was also a professor of Medical Dental College at the University of Connecticut.
