She was born on October 11, 1884, in Manhattan, New York City. She was born to parents named Anna Rebecca Hall and Elliott Roosevelt. She was known by her middle name i.e. Eleanor from an early age. Through her father, Eleanor Roosevelt was a niece of President Theodore Roosevelt.
From her mother’s side, she was a niece of Valentine Gill ‘Vallie’ Hall III and Edward Ludlow Hall, tennis champions.
