Dr. Rajendra Prasad mother Smt. Kamleshwari Devi was a simple religious woman and his father Shri. Mahadev Sahai was a knowledgeable man. Prasad’s family was a financially fulfilling and happy family. He belonged to a family of Diwans of Hathua state. He got his early education from the village school and studied Urdu and Persian.

At the age of five, he was studying Persian from a maulvi and then he joined Zilla School in Chapra. He completed his early schooling at the district school and then he went to TK Ghosh Academy in Patna. At the age of thirteen, Prasad was married to a girl Rajvanshi Devi.

After getting married his plan was not to settle down but to gain higher education so he went to Kolkata University.  In his high school examination, he scored first position. He was so good at studying that he scored first position in all of his exams. After high school, he completed his bachelor’s in law and started his career in law. While he was studying he played a major role in the Indian freedom struggle. 

In the L.L.B. and L.L.M examinations, he again scored the first position not only in just one province but man.  After completing his master’s he also obtained his doctorate degree in Law. In the year when there was a protest in India against the dissolution of Bengal, he opposed English goods when he was just in his student life.

In 1906 when the congress session begin and at that time Dr. Rajendra Prasad was just an ordinary worker. After completing his law studies he started his practice in the Patna high court. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was always a brilliant student and now he had a shining career in the law field. While he was practicing in Patna court he gained a lot of praise in advocacy and emerged as a famous lawyer.

In the year 1917 Mahatma Gandhi game to Bihar to get justice for the Champaran farmers and here he met Dr. Rajendra Prasad for the first time. Dr. Rajendra Prasad knew about Mahatma Gandhi and was impressed with him. He was impressed by his courage and dedication to the Indian people.

When he was released from jail his health was not good but despite all the problems he arranged clothes, medicines, food, and other important items for the affected people. He helped almost every village though he was suffering from bad health.

He did everything in his hands for his country and the Bihar people. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected president of all India congress two times and he solved many disputes that took place in the congress.

While he was president he traveled to many countries and served two consecutive terms. In the year 1962, he retired due to his bad health condition and started living in Sadaqat Ashram in Patna.  In 1962 he was given Bharat Ratna award. He wrote many books like Bapu Ke Kadmon Mein in 1954, his autobiography in 1946, Satyagraha in Champaran in 1922, India divided in1946, the unity of India, Atmakatha, and many others.

On 28th February 1963, India lost a brave president as well as a great human being. He took his last breath at the Sadaqat Ashram. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a great man and his contributions are unforgettable. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a simple man. He proved himself in everything he indulged in. 

His life is a great example for every Indian. He was a skilled man who had huge compassion in his heart. He was a leader who inspired all age groups. Every Indian had tears in their eyes when they lost Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Dr. Rajendra Prasad is a name in the golden words in Indian history.
