Best Thomas Jefferson Biography, Wikipedia, Family, Wife, Early Life, Thomas Jefferson is known for many roles like writer, scientist, governor, revolutionary, slave owner, president, and philosopher but the most he is known as the person who wrote the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was born on 13 April 1743 in the Piedmont region of central Virginia. He was born on the plantation of Shadwell which is located along Rivanna River and at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Thomas Jefferson’s parents were Peter Jefferson who was a surveyor and planter. His father was successful in what he was doing. His mother was Jane Randolph who belonged to the distinguished family of Virginia.

Thomas Jefferson’s father left the world too soon and Thomas was just fourteen years old then. His father had enough land which belonged to Thomas now and it was around five thousand acres. He also inherited his father’s house at Shadwell but his wish was to live in the mountains.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

Thomas Jefferson went to college and studied law for five years with George Wythe who was a prominent jurist of Virginia. He then first recorded his legal case in the year 1767. After two years he was elected to the House of Burgesses of Virginia.

His first political work was a 1774 draft of directions for delegation to the first continental congress which was reprinted as a” Summary Views of the Rights of British America.”

Thomas Jefferson Married Life

In the year 1772 Thomas Jefferson found the love of his life and married her. Her wife was Martha Wayles Skelton. Martha was a widow and after marriage, the couple moved to Monticello which is the most popular house of the president who he named himself. This house was not complete yet. 

The couple had six children together but only two children made it to adulthood Patsy and Polly.  Unfortunately even the love of his life his wife Martha died after ten years of their marriage.

Thomas Jefferson Achievements

In the year 1779 Thomas Jefferson was elected as the governor till 1781. At the time of his governorship, he had to face many controversies as well as criticism. He also wrote a book called Notes on the State of Virginia. He was too a slave owner which led him to many controversies.

Later in the year 1784 he became the trade commissioner in France and entered public service again. In 1790 he became the first secretary of state under George Washington.  In 1796 he became vice president and then he became the third president of the United States after defeating John Adams.

The most notable achievement of Thomas Jefferson was buying Louisiana Territory in the year 1803 and his support on the side of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. At the time of retirement, Thomas Jefferson spent most of his time at Monticello.

He used to sell his book collection to the government so that the Library of Congress nucleus can be formed and instantly also started purchasing more volumes after selling 6500 volumes. Sadly he also said that he cannot live without books. Thomas Jefferson’s last public service was at the Foundation University of Virginia. 

At the time of retirement, Thomas Jefferson was mostly in debt and his notable accomplishments in purchasing Louisiana territory and port of new lands also raised a huge wall of financial discomfort in his life,

Thomas Jefferson Death

Thomas Jefferson was having huge debts to pay off he was always optimistic. Thomas Jefferson died just after few hours before John Adams his friend on the 15th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1826, he was positive. 

Before the ten days of his death, he declined an invitation to Washington which was a planned celebration but offered assurance that “all eyes are opened, or opening to the rights of man. Thomas Jefferson wrote his epitaph and also designed his grave marker that will bear just his accomplishment and nothing else.

He never explained why these three achievements were important but it seems to be unique for the 3^rd president of the United States. His words are mentioned below
